OIL CHANGE OVERVIEW
Whether for your car, truck, or SUV, oil changes are an important part of maintaining the health of your engine. Changing yours cars engine oil and filter is also a good way to ensure longevity of your cars engine.
Every car will come with their own Factory Recommended oil change intervals in the owners manuals, along with recommendations for their oil type (ex. 5w30, 0w20, etcetera).
It is important to note that the intervals will change with conventional/synthetic/blend oils and with different driving habits/conditions. for example: sitting in traffic (idling too long), stopping and going frequently, accelerating fast, not allowing the oil to warm up before driving, and in some cases not letting the oil cool down.
-But I don't drive my car that often, I don't need to change my oil for a while, right?
No, in fact oil has an age limit! Engine oil starts to oxidize once it comes in contact with the atmosphere. As it oxidizes it starts to become more acidic which will harm the engine.
